Why
join us?
In
addition to offering the opportunity to enjoy the hills
with like-minded companions, club membership offers a number
of other benefits.
The CRMC is a "Club member"
of the [BMC
[British Mountaineering Council]. The BMC is the national
representative body for all who take part in mountain activity
- from simple hill-walking to climbing on K2. "Club
membership" of the BMC brings important benefits to
both the CRMC and its constituent members. The Club receives
third party liability cover for all its activities, and
individuals receive £2,000,000 personal liability
insurance cover worldwide. Club members are entitled to
use BMC services such as travel insurance and access to
mountain huts owned by other Clubs. In addition, all members
receive a copy of the BMC's magazine Summit, which contains
news on access, safety issues and other items of interest
to mountain walkers and climbers. The CRMC membership subscription
is inclusive of the cost of BMC membership.
Club members are able to claim a 10%
discount on purchases from a number of outdoor and climbing
shops, including "The
Climbers Shop" in Ambleside [15% if you sign up
to their on-line newsletter], “Needle
Sports“ in Keswick, “Joe
Brown” in Capel Curig and Llanberis," Field
& Trek " and "Ultimate
Outdoors" at Betws-y-Coed, Skipton and Keswick.
In addition to the BMC’s Summit
magazine, members receive three club newsletters a year,
with interim event updates and an address list of all other
club members (you can opt to be left off this list if you
prefer).
Should you be uncertain whether to join
the Club immediately, you are most welcome to attend an
event as a guest before deciding. Please be aware that BMC
insurance covers guests for 3 months only. A guest may come
on as many events as they wish in that period but after
3 months they must join the club if they wish to continue
to come on events. The BMC may invalidate our insurance
if we abuse this. Please also note that although guests
may come on week events, these are often very popular and
it is unfair to allow guests places at the expense of members.
Week events also take substantial planning and usually involve
the club in significant expenditure in booking accommodation
that it is not guaranteed to recover from bookings. For
these reasons a non-member wishing to go on a week long
club event will normally be expected to join the club. To
book onto an event, please contact the event coordinator
listed in the current Events Programme in the first instance,
and tell them this is your first event.
We very much look forward to meeting
you!
Who
can join?
Full
membership is open to all professing Christians aged 18
years or over who accept the principal tenets of the Christian
faith, as set out in the club's Declaration of Faith.
Individuals who understand and accept the Christian basis
of the club and who are in sympathy with its aims but are
not able to sign the Declaration of Faith may join as Associate
Members.
Child membership is open to the children of full or associate
members at the discretion of the committee. In exceptional
circumstances the child of a non-member may be allowed membership,
in which case, a club member must sponsor them. The sponsoring
member must take on the full responsibilities that the club
would normally expect a parent or guardian to assume and
must know both the child and parent/guardian well. The club
has a Child
Protection Policy and al members and guests are
expected to abide by the best practice set out in this document.
Annual
subscription
The club membership year runs from January
to December. New members who join on or after 1st July pay
half the annual fee and new members joining on or after
1st October enjoy 15 months membership for the price of
12. This is not available to existing members who fail to
renew. Members who rejoin after a break in membership of
at least a full year will be eligible.

Joint (married couple) membership: £37.00
Reduced rate membership (child/full time student/low income):

LOW INCOME
The club has set aside a sum to provide subsidy for members
on low incomes. This will enable members who qualify to
receive a discount of 50% on weekend events and 20% on week
events subject to a limit of two weekend events and one
week event per member per year. Once the allocated sum is
used the scheme will cease for that year. Members are reminded
