Su Elphinston – Treasurer

David has been a member of the club for 20 years. Winter week in Glencoe was his first club event, with his wife Ginny. Since then he has enjoyed numerous club events. He has served on the committee as events co-ordinator and more recently club secretary. He now finds himself as Chairman!

David has enjoyed being in the mountains from a young age, following his father up many a hill. He also enjoys skiing and is getting back into biking. He has enjoyed mountain adventures in Italy, France & Spain, as well as Iceland, New Zealand and the UK.

Su loves Jesus, mountains and chocolate!  She joined the club in 2000, met Andrew on her first event and promptly married him because he shared two of her great loves.  Su is Treasurer because she loves spending money and doesn’t particularly mind whose it is.  She remains in the club because there are still mountains to climb and she loves the friendships and fellowship it engenders.

Jan Sams – Events Co-ordinator

Jan has been a club member for over 15 years. She was encouraged to walk up hills in the Lake District from a young age on family camping holidays and an early comment on top of Latrigg was ‘Don’t fall me off!’

After rebelling in her teens and being keen to try different types of holiday she discovered a love for the outdoors herself while studying for a degree. She has enjoyed adventures, mainly walking with some scrambling and a little climbing in all the countries of the UK, several in Europe, Nepal, Tanzania, Sri Lanka and New Zealand.

She lives in Bolton and is a member of St. Peters Halliwell.
